Do you want to help build a sustainable future for the Yorkshire Dales? If so, we are looking for a new Chair of Trustees. This is a high profile, voluntary role that would be ideal for an energetic, environmentally minded individual with strong leadership skills.
Our outgoing Chair, Bruce McLeod who is stepping down after completion of his term of office, said: “It has been an absolute privilege to lead such a talented team for the last four years. Together we’ve delivered some really tangible benefits to the long term sustainability of the Yorkshire Dales, including raising awareness of the pollution caused by planting trees with plastic guards – a campaign that has now gathered momentum and credence at a national level. We’ve also made real progress in protecting the little biodiversity the Dales has left, by campaigning for the better management of roadside verges. Our 2022 conference on river health was also a tremendous success. I would encourage anyone with a passion for nature and the environment to get in touch to find out more.”
The Chair of Trustees is a key figure within our Charity, providing direction, enthusiasm, commitment and drive to our work.
The role of the Chair is to provide leadership to the Board, taking responsibility for ensuring that the Board has agreed priorities, appropriate structures, processes and a productive culture, along with Trustees who are able to govern well and add value to the Charity. This role would require around four days per month delivered on a flexible basis.
There is an opportunity to join an informal webinar with the current Chair of the Trustees, Bruce McLeod, Treasurer; Ian Harrison and Executive Director, Ann Shadrake on Thursday 9 March at 1pm. This aims to be a friendly ‘non obligatory’ way for interested candidates to find out more about our Charity, the Chair’s role and to ask questions.
