It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the recent and sudden passing of one of our long standing Trustees and Vice Chair, Wilf Fenten.
In his five years service as Trustee and highly regarded Chair of our Policy and Planning committee, Wilf brought a huge wealth of knowledge, experience and enthusiasm to our work and campaigns.
Before he joined us as a Trustee, Wilf initiated and co-led our innovative and highly successful community digital archiving project Capturing the Past.
This project secures the future of vulnerable and irreplaceable local history documents in the Dales, such as photographs, wills and diaries, by supporting local people to identify, catalogue, digitise and upload material to a bespoke website. Now its eighth year, Capturing the Past provides a particularly fitting legacy to the huge wealth of knowledge, experience and enthusiasm that Wilf brought to our work and campaigns.
Our thoughts are with his widow Hilary, and their family and friends at this very sad time.
