Please sign our petition to help put an end to the ongoing persecution and criminal killing of birds of prey.

We are asking Mary Creagh CBE MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Nature, for three key reforms to better protect these majestic species:

Making wildlife crime a notifiable offence would ensure consistent reporting, better intelligence sharing, and targeted enforcement.

Robust oversight is vital in areas – such as the Yorkshire Dales − where most confirmed persecution cases occur.

In signing this petition you will add your name to those of: Rose O’ Neill, Chief Executive of Campaign for National Parks; Dr Ruth Tingay, Director of Raptor Persecution UK and Wild Justice; Indy Kiemel Greene, Hen Harrier Action and Northern England Raptor Forum (NERF).

We aim to achieve 1000+ signatures – please help us reach our target, as more signatures means more influence!

After signing this petition we would be grateful if you could share it with likeminded friends, family and colleagues… many thanks!

The Shocking Facts

  • Birds of prey are in catastrophic decline, especially in the Yorkshire Dales – a UK black spot for this type of wildlife crime, with 152 confirmed incidents of raptor persecution, including 41 involving hen harriers, over a recent 15-year period in the Yorkshire Dales.
  • Despite more than 70 years of full legal protections for these awe inspiring apex species, birds of prey continue to be persecuted with several now categorised as ‘red’ and ‘amber’ for Birds of Conservation Concern.
  • There is overwhelming evidence that birds of prey continue to be trapped, shot and poisoned on our uplands. You can review the RSPB’s Birdcrime Report (2023), a 15 year review of the illegal killing of birds of prey in the UK via the button below:
